Jeffery H, Fort Worth, Texas -You will never get board in Austin. There are tons of outdoor activities, bars, and great food. The guy before was talking about Hula Hut on the lake. Go see the University of TX play A&M for a huge TX football rivalry and tailgate with the best of them!! Go, you wont regret it!!

Sara W, Austin, Texas - There are a ton of things to do in Austin: Wonderful dining: Can't remember the name off hand, but wonderful Tex/Hawaiian (Yeah!) restaurant on Lake Travis Killer food everywere. Also, there is the aquifer, the Capitol Building (definately worth a look, along with the library, Lady Bird Johnson did wonders in Texas). Downtown has some of the best music in the U.S. (not just my opinion). I apologize for not having actual place names, I was born there and the names we use are not the ones advertized. However, any basic guide will get you where you want to go. And I suggest you go now, before it gets ruined like many of the other truely cool places, like Key West.

Kelly W, Austin, Texas - You HAVE to try Ben's Longbranch BBQ on 11th St just east of hwy 35. It is so good. Go on a Wednesday if you can and get a "soul food" plate. I love the chicken, ribs and the pork butt. Best BBQ around. This is off topic but strangely enough, Austin has one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to (and I travel and love Indian food). Go to SWAD Just off North Lamar on Rutland. Get the Dahi Puri, a Thali Special and a Mango Lhassi and you won't regret it.

Jason L, Beaumont, Texas - Austin: Saxon Pub for music, Best BBQ is in Lockhart (Black's BBQ) or Taylor (Taylor Cafe or Louie Mueller's) - 1hr drive from Austin. Side Note: Stop by the Snake Farm in New Braunfels (between Austin and SA) - Can't miss the signs. Austin is the live music capital of the world and really pretty. 2 1/2 hrs south of dallas.

Madaline R. Phoenix, AZ - Here are some of the places I came across: 1) 6th Street Sixth Street in downtown Austin is perhaps the city's best known street outside of Texas. You don't have to go inside the bars and other businesses if you don't want. Stay out on the sidewalk and take a stroll to see some of the historic buildings and do people-watching. 2) Austin Zoo Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Yes, Austin has a zoo. It's not huge but it's lots of fun for the whole family. 3) Barsana Dham Take a photo tour of this beautiful Hindu Temple just south of Austin. You can go inside the Temple but there's even more to see strolling the beautiful grounds. 4) Barton Creek Greenbelt (Texas Outside) Barton Creek Greenbelt is a popular area for hiking with 7.9 miles of trails following the path of Barton Creek. Depending on rainfall the creek offers many swimming holes. There are also popular rock climbing walls along the trails. 5) Barton Springs Swimming Pool Considered by many to be the premiere swimming hole in town, this 900 plus foot pool in Zilker Park was formed when Barton Springs was dammed. 6) Bluebonnets March through May is when our State Flower is blanketing the countryside. Discover where to see the best blooms and other bluebonnet facts and trivia. 7) Enchanted Rock State Natural Area Occupying 1643.5 acres north of Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock State Natural Area and its centerpiece, a 640 acre pink granite dome that rises 425 feet into the air, are a popular destination for both day trips from Austin and overnight camping. Hope this helps.
